About Us
Hello everybody! My name is David and I am the Founder of The LEAP for America. The LEAP (Leadership to End the Apathy Project) is a project I started working on shortly after this last election. I am an average middle-class American concerned for the future of our country and want to help support all elected officials to make this world a better place for all to live in. I am not in any way shape or form part of any group affiliated with our current politics. My political affiliation is neither democratic nor republican. The LEAP for America is a movement that will provide a platform for the average American to make a positive difference in our political system and essentially the community’s we all live in together.
My wish for this project is to see our country actually be the leaders of the world we boast so much about every day, and hold our officials accountable for their actions. To me our current process is so diluted with bickering back and forth, corruption, greed, propaganda, and scandal left and right. It is often hard to distinguish what the facts are and who is telling the truth. What do we Americans end up with after all of this? A terrible economy, war, more debt and fear for the future. This needs to change and the officials who are caught up misleading Americans need to be exposed for what they are really doing for themselves instead of the American people and in turn the rest of the world.
I am so tired of watching campaigns where all who are on center stage promise us the world will be a better place with them running the show. Then shortly after that person is elected they immediately fall short of many promises made. I would like to try to curb that thought process through The LEAP for America.
I enjoy small wagers, challenges, and incentives. That is really where this concept got started. The day after the 2008 election I was talking with a friend and stated that I don’t believe that Mr. Obama would really be able to come through on some of these promises. I would like to make some sort of a wager/challenge on whether or not he could overcome the hurdles and actually get something positive done. I was neither interested in a money wager, nor any kind of personal gain for that matter. I wanted to prove to myself and anyone else that our current system is not even close to being honest and hard working for the people, as they all claim. But what if they do? What if our officials actually do make that jump to help the people instead of themselves? What am I willing to give back if we actually see the change that our elected officials have promised?
Everybody in the world has time on this earth and when we are out that’s it, no bailouts, no renegotiating, and you cannot buy any more of it no matter the social status. Time can be measured in many ways and some use it more wisely than others. Mr. Obama has encouraged us all to volunteer our time, out of the goodness of our hearts, towards community service. I think that is a good request and would love to support our new president achieve his goals and improve America as a whole. However, I am not interested in doing my part and watch our officials fall short of theirs.
Time is a precious commodity and one that many of us are not willing to give for free, including myself. I realize there are a lot of people that already give back to their community; I don’t want to discourage them to stop. I want to encourage the people like myself who, unfortunately don’t really get involved at all. Many people are lethargic, apathetic, and not invested in their communities. I hope that this project will inspire all ages and people from around the globe to get involved with their communities in a positive manner.
As this project developed I realized that if I was able to motivate or inspire other people to make the same challenge to our officials, and hold them accountable, it would really make the difference we all so desperately hope for. There has always been and always will be strength in numbers, one man will not be able to do it all and he needs all of our support to accomplish the goals for our country. This is a platform for people to join me and my community to end the apathy. We need to start doing something, instead of just moaning about what we don’t like. Now is the time, and with the support of you, we will help jumpstart the world and make it a better place to live for everybody.
Sincerely,
David
